was founded in 2003 by partners James Dolenc and Thomas Riker. Mr. Dolenc,
with a background in corporate interior design, offers clients the unique
perspective of combining a highly creative and eclectic design aesthetic with a
prudent business sensibility honed from years of designing contract interiors.
Mr. Riker, with a Master’s degree in Architecture and seven years architectural
background, provides his experience by approaching projects from a practical and
methodical viewpoint. The result is a fluid team capable of tackling the
most challenging of interior projects. A project’s success is achieved
through a unique color palette, an innovative use of materials and an eclectic
mix of antiques and contemporary furnishings.
Mr. Dolenc and Mr. Riker’s philosophy is
to offer their clients a structured design process complimented
with a clean and sophisticated aesthetic. Client proposals
follow the typical architectural model: services are broken down
into various phases each with a number of hours allotted.
Unlike most firms, jamesthomas believes that fees should be
based on the integrity of design services, not on the mark-up of
furniture, furnishings or trades people. Whenever trade
pricing is offered, the discount is passed directly to the
client. jamesthomas’ fees are based solely on an hourly
rate.
