Olympia Center Penthouse

The conversion of two units at this prestigious downtown address into one cohesive, contemporary home allowed jamesthomas to utilize all of their design resources: space planning, architectural design, project management, interior decorating, art procurement, custom furniture design and accessories. Combining a two bedroom interior unit with a three bedroom corner unit resulted in over 4,000 square feet of usable space. The client’s program demanded two master suites, a fully functional trading office, an intimate home theater and abundant open entertaining space. The new linear floor plan takes advantage of the soaring 20’ ceilings which are located at each end of the space. One side of the residence houses the living room while the other end is the master bedroom suite with unparalleled views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. By restricting the number of materials and finishes, jamesthomas was able to successfully unify the space. Warm travertine floors run the length of the home. Rich wood tones and fabrics offset the sun-drenched rooms and light colored walls. The innovative use of glass panels and partitions allows natural light to enter into the most interior of spaces. The end result is an elegant interior that successfully compliments the dramatic views.
